Had a morning jolt today when my husband was feeding me a gourmet breakfast (includes beef raised by Karen and Randy Striefel) when I looked up and spotted a Yellow-shafted Flicker on our sunflower feeder. This is very unusual in deep North Dakota Winter as these birds are a harbinger of spring on the prairie; however we live in the city and feeders abound.
